5:30pm – Orbit around the Gallery Crawl and soak in the artwork of the local galleries.
7:00pm – Take Off, as a VIP ticket holder, from our exclusive VIP Launch Pad. Join us for an exclusive Dinner Party spread curated by the best Pittsburgh chefs. Dance to the sensational Boilermaker Jazz Band. Be amazed by a private art show and dazzle at the other worldly entertainment.

It's almost time. Join us for the historic opening of the 54th annual Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival this Friday, June 7th with Riverlights at the Point. 

Friday marks the grand return of the Point State Park Fountain, a concert by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and dazzling lights throughout the park and on the water. As always, it’s free and open to the public!

The REP announces Equity Principal auditions for fall productions 
The REP, Point Park University’s professional theatre company, is accepting Equity Principal auditions by appointment for the upcoming production of All My Sons by Arthur Miller and the world premiere of Soldier’s Heart by Tammy Ryan. 

All My Sons will be directed by Robert A. Miller. Appointments will be accepted on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Point Park University’s Pittsburgh Playhouse from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Rehearsals begin Aug. 6, 2013. All My Sons runs from Sept. 5 – 22, 2013 in the Rauh Theatre at Pittsburgh Playhouse.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust presents Showcase Noir: Artist and Designer Market
The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s Showcase Noir is an exhibit that celebrates the works of artists and designers of the African Diaspora. 2013 marks the 10th year the Cultural Trust has presented this exhibit showcasing works for sale: paintings, sculptures, photographs, fiber art, jewelry, pottery and art in various mediums, from some of most talented emerging and established artists, both local and national.
“We are proud to bring Showcase Noir artisans and their fine works, both local and national, to Pittsburgh’s Cultural District. Artists are traveling from New York, Nashville, South Carolina and other cities across the US. New this year to the Showcase exhibit is featured artist in residence, Al Bright who will have his work on display at 709 Penn Gallery. The show is titled Abstract Jazz Works. Art and music will provide an exciting blend of visuals and activity for visitors to enjoy”, comments Janis Burley-Wilson, Vice President of Education and Community Engagement and Director of Jazz Programs with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. Talus: Lindsay Merrill and Paul Rouphail 
Talus, at 707 Penn Gallery from May 31 - June 30, 2013, features works by Lindsay Merrill and Paul Rouphail. Monolithic skyscrapers, grounded airplanes, vacant bus stops. They are portals to literal and allegorical spaces.

Paul Rouphail and Lindsay Merrill's meticulously crafted paintings can be seen as faithful renderings of urban architecture and mechanical flight. On a different level, the images contemplate what is not represented; a building without inhabitants, a sky without a horizon. Read the entire release here

Market Square has KidsPlay on Tuesdays and the Farmer's Market on Thursdays
This week marks the return of KidsPlay to Market Square on Tuesday, June 4 featuring everyone's favorite mailman Mr. McFeeley from Mister Roger's Neighborhood. Join the PDP and the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Downtown Branch for this fun and exciting hands-on learning experience. KidsPlay runs from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday until August 20 in Market Square. We are still working on the complete line-up for this awesome summer series, be sure to visit our Tuesdays in Market Square Webpage often for updates!

The Market Square Farmer's Market is in full swing!! The Farmer's Market is a great opportunity for local farmers to promote their goods while providing the Downtown community with a unique and convenient shopping experience. Join us every Thursday from now until October 31 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

This week make sure to check out Clarion River Organics, Fabulous Homemade Cookies, and Rise Above Bakery for delicious treats and fresh produce!

All My Sons will be directed by Robert A. Miller. Rehearsals begin Aug. 6, 2013. All My Sons runs from Sept. 5 – 22, 2013 in the Rauh Theatre at Pittsburgh Playhouse. The director seeks to fill the role of Bert, a neighborhood boy who plays cop-and-robber games with Joe Keller.

Soldier’s Heart will be directed by John Amplas. Rehearsals begin Aug. 27, 2013. Soldier’s Heart runs from Sept. 26 – Oct. 13, 2013 in the Studio Theatre at Pittsburgh Playhouse. The director seeks to fill the role of Sean, 10 years old, bi-racial.

Appointments will be accepted on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Point Park University’s Pittsburgh Playhouse from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sides will be provided. For an appointment, please call the Pittsburgh Playhouse audition hotline at 412.392.8141 or email kmartin@pointpark.edu.


WQED TO DRAW MAJOR CROWD TO THE THREE RIVERS ARTS FESTIVAL
WQED Pittsburgh will have a major presence at this year’s Three Rivers Arts Festival. iQ Kids Radio will bring a multitude of events to the festival and Classical WQED-FM 89.3 will broadcast live from the festival on June 10 and will also provide highlights from the Festival during its ten-day run. Young Entrepreneurs will sell products and showcase their businesses. As you network through the Business Expo and food stations, you will be “ignited” by the creativity of the Young Entrepreneurs.

As guests visit each of the student businesses, they will vote for the Young Entrepreneurs considered to be the "most effective communicators" of their business concept. One middle school and one high school entrepreneur will each win a cash prize at the Business Expo.

Recognition of Entrepreneuring Youth’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year and Educational Innovator of the Year

Competition finalists will present their businesses’ 3-minute pitch

1st, 2nd and 3rd place finalists are announced and receive their seed capital prizes

Announcement of a new Ron Morris E-Award, named after the well known Pittsburgh entrepreneur .
