Roving Pitttsburgher Report: Barley and Hop's Event in a Tent Benefit

The Techno Granny, Joanne Quinn-Smith ( www.technogrannyshow.com ) sent me on a mission to visit a great Fundraiser on Friday night. Barley's and Hop's Event in a Tent.  This was a 2-day St. Patty's Day Event! They are located on Route 88 in The South Park Shops. It is on your left before the Entrance of South Park. They had a Huge Tent that Straub's Brewery was sponsoring for this event.

Tim and Jeff own this great place. The Charity event was being held for our fallen officers. I also met Rich Griffith, President of the Western Pennsylvania Police Benevolent Foundation. All money goes to the injured officers and their families. Rich and everyone else involved are all volunteers. Help this great group by going to  www.WPPBF.org for as little as $25 you get a window decal and their great WPPBF t-shirt.

Alyssa (
7th grader) started a fundraiser for Police officers who need bullet proof vests. Lexi and Alyssa were selling a lot of tickets to the growing crowd. They had a Chinese Auction with Fifteen items to bid on. They had items from Sarris Baskets. The Meadows Basket, John Daly Golf Club, framed pictures of PNC Park, Marc Andre Fleury, Roberto Clemente and Much more.
They were also helping the Sixteenth Annual MARTHA'S RUN on April 14, 2012. This is being held in Honor of Mount Lebanon native MARTHA DIXON MARTINEZ. She Died in the line of duty as a FBI SPECIAL AGENT on November 22, 1994 after killing  two criminals.

Theresa was in charge of selling the tickets for the auction. Her husband Andy is a well known officer on the Bethel Park Police Force. They gave me a lot of great info about these Fundraisers.
With 70 degree weather, beer, Irish food and the Gerry Michael's Band rocking the Huge Tent everyone was having a great evening for those organizations.
Great fundraising event for St. Patrick's Day
Tim told me that over 200 people were there on Friday. They also raised THOUSANDS for the Great Organizations. If you didn't make it to this event, stop in and see Tim and Jeff's unique CHEERS type Bar in the South Park Shops.
