The Decemberists
Friday, August 14 | 8pm
Byham Theater
Presented by CDLive
“The beauty of The Decemberists is that their music is completely impossible to classify.”
-Richmond Times-Dispatch

In their ambitious 2009 album The Hazards of Love, the Decemberists tackle their most ambitious project to date: a 17-song narrative blending ancient language and fantastical imagery with the band’s inimitable vagabond pop style. It’s a fitting follow-up to the group’s 2006 breakthrough The Crane Wife, which NPR listeners voted their favorite album of the year. The Hazards of Love solidifies the Decemberists as one of the most innovative and creative forces in music today.

From Women and Girls Foundation
Historic County Council
Gender and Race Wage Equity Legislation

At the Allegheny County Council committee meeting on Thursday, July 2nd, the historic Race & Gender Wage Equity bill passed 14-0! The legislation, which was announced on April 27 by WGF Executive Director Heather Arnet and County Executive Dan Onorato, is a great start to the work we need to do in our region to ensure wage equity for women and girls.

This important legislation comes on the heels of the recently released City of Pittsburgh Gender and Race Wage Equity Study which explored whether economic inequities exist for women and people of color employed by the City of Pittsburgh. Our city and county's commitment to the important issue of the wage gap in our region is energizing and encouraging, and we are thrilled this legislation was passed unanimously.
We also applaud the passage of the Human Relations Committee bill, as both pieces of legislation are a great show of support for the county's commitment to achieving equality in our region!
At WGF, we will continue to work for equality and we're excited for the next steps in moving forward to ensure fair treatment for all.
