Prompted by the death of Ka’Sandra Wade, 33, of Larimer, a working group,
consisting of members of Pittsburgh City Council and the Mayor’s Office with
input from community members, has recommended legislation to improve the police
bureau’s policy on domestic violence calls. An important vote by Pittsburgh City
Council on this legislation will occur on Wednesday, May 8, 2013.
Legislation that institutes a lethality assessment as policy and establishes
an advisory board which could help prevent future tragedies as a result of
policy response – Speak out today to urge members of Pittsburgh City Council to
vote for this bill without any amendments.
