Women and Girls Foundation Urges Action on Pittsburgh Domestic Violence Legislation



Prompted by the death of Ka’Sandra Wade, 33, of Larimer, a working group, consisting of members of Pittsburgh City Council and the Mayor’s Office with input from community members, has recommended legislation to improve the police bureau’s policy on domestic violence calls. An important vote by Pittsburgh City Council on this legislation will occur on Wednesday, May 8, 2013.

Legislation that institutes a lethality assessment as policy and establishes an advisory board which could help prevent future tragedies as a result of policy response – Speak out today to urge members of Pittsburgh City Council to vote for this bill without any amendments.

Also, join members of Pittsburghers Against Domestic Violence for the vote on this important legislation on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Pittsburgh City Council Chambers, 5th floor of the City County Building, 414 Grant Street Pittsburgh, PA 15219. City of Pittsburgh residents are encouraged to register to speak during public comment at the start of the meeting.
