Steelers Win AFC Championship to go to Super Bowl

Steelers beat the Jets and head to Super Bowl 45. The Pittsburgh Steelers scored 24 point in the first half, but had to hang on against the hard knocked New York Jets. The Jets scored 16 points in the second half. Rex Ryan, the Jets head coach said he was proud of his team and they will be back next year and win it all. Pittsburgh has played in 15 AFC Championship games in it's history. Final score 24-19 Steelers.

I'm happy to report that all went very well today for our May 1st - Venture Outdoors First Saturday launch of the Tai Chi in the Park series. I'll be eager to see the results of your evaluation sheets. Seemed like very happy campers - left them wanting more. Only one had prior Tai Chi experience and only a couple were ever in Riverview Park and Oakmont before.



Our VO volunteer Ashley was wonderful -- and the digital photos will be great! I'm glad to know she'll be the volunteer throughout most of the series -- that is very helpful, Lora.

We had a very sweet group -- with my friend Jerry Balbot (age 82 Parkinson’s) joining in as well - for a total of 10. So nice demographics - young married couple in their 20's plus mother-in-law to a couple in their 60s, a serious runner interested in Chi Running and Chi Walking, a stressed out Mom of three (her husband arranged for her to attend as part of his entire weekend birthday celebration package for her !!!), and two additional work stressed out women in their 40's -50's.

Steeltown Hero



Teamwork, dedication, commitment, a sense of community and giving back, that's what makes Kids and a Cause successful. Six girls, ranging in age from 10 to 15, devote many weekends, years now, designing their products to be sold at events like Women Think Pink in order to raise money for the Hillman Cancer Patient Assistance Fund, $9000 to date. They come as a package, Kathryn Bissert, Kelsie Bissert, Katie Derrick, Sarah Derrick, Heidi Schmidt, Heather Schmidt. Six girls on a mission to give back and make cancer patient care a little easier for those who are unable to afford the basic necessities during their recovery . They work well together, have fun together continue to learn how to run a successful business from their very accomplished and equally dedicated parents, and most importantly, how to make a spoon stick to their nose without falling off, an admirable accomplishment

I am proud to know Kathryn, Heidi, Katie, Kelsie, Heather and Sarah and so it is with great pride and hope that I nominate Kids and A Cause for consideration for NAWBO’s Make the Connection award.

Our future looks brighter because of them.
