Scholars Host Pre Show Discussions Before Oscar Wilde Performance of "Ideal Husband"

Director, noted Wilde scholar announced

as guests for upcoming discussion series

Pittsburgh, PA – May 7, 2008. The upcoming Pittsburgh Irish & Classical Theatre pre-show discussion series will feature Philip E. Smith as the guest for “Artistically Speaking” on Wednesday, May 14th, and Andrew S. Paul for “Behind the Scenes” on Thursday, May 15th. Both talks are free of charge and begin at 7 p.m., followed by an 8 p.m. performance of An Ideal Husband. All events take place in the Stephen Foster Memorial on Forbes Avenue in Oakland.

Philip E. Smith teaches in the English department at the University of Pittsburgh, where his seminar in Oscar Wilde and the 1890s is offered regularly for graduate students and senior English majors. He is the editor of Approaches to Teaching the Works of Oscar Wilde (MLA 2008) and the co-editor of Oscar Wilde's Oxford Notebooks (Oxford University Press 1989).

Andrew S. Paul is the artistic director for Pittsburgh Irish & Classical Theatre, and the director of An Ideal Husband.

The Wednesday night lecture series is sponsored by UPMC.
